Island Holiday Fun

BERJAYA Redang Beach Resort is set on a gem of a tropical isle with all the comforts for a lovely island holiday. The hotel which is closed for renovations during the Monsoon season from November, will reopen for the season from Feb 7 to Oct 31. During this period, you can expect plenty of sunshine and soothing breezes without the formidable waves.

The resort in Teluk Dalam is fringed by tall swaying coconut trees. The rustle of its leaves in the evening breeze is mesmerising as one walks on the beach. During the day, this same calming rhythm can lull you to sleep.

Those looking for adventure can go scuba diving as the waters here are renowned for splendid corals. The seabed is an aquatic paradise.

Don't worry if you don't know how to scuba dive. You can have just as much fun snorkelling near the beach. The underwater world teems with coral fish, hard corals, moray eels, giant groupers and turtles such as the green and hawksbill turtles.

The West Coast has always been a haven for turtles. You can also hire a glass bottom boat from which you can view the rich marine life underwater without getting your feet wet.

Those looking for more privacy can also hire a boat to go to more isolated beaches. The magic of Redang is that there are many smaller islands nearby for one to explore.

There is a State Government-run turtle sanctuary at Chagar Hutang where rehabilitation of the turtles is carried out. However, you need to get a permit to go there.
