VISITORS to the Great Eastern Mall had a chocolate-filled day with local artistes and pastry chefs.
Pastry chefs from 14 five-star hotels presented their best and most creative chocolate cakes at the second Chocolate Cake Championship at the Concourse of Great Eastern Mall in Kuala Lumpur.
Each hotel was represented by two local artistes who did their best to sell the cakes for RM15 a piece for the Chocolate Cake Charity Sales.
“I do what I can for charity and since Christmas is around the corner, this is a great way to do a good deed,” said Frontpage actor Tony Eusoff.
Another Frontpage actor Jehan Miskin was also present.
The organiser, Great Eastern Mall, will channel proceeds from the sale to its charity project ChildrenCare.
Among the celebrities who helped out were Fauziah Latiff, Suria FM CEO Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin and his wife singer-actress Erra Fazira, Chef Wan, Puspa Narayan, Nora Danish, Fazura, Deborah Priya Henry, Amber Chia and Marion Counter.
Supermodel Chia, who underwent a minor surgery recently, came despite her condition.
“Staying at home for the past week has been really boring. I am glad to be her,’’ she said.

Deborah said she was delighted that the celebrities had fun while on a charity project.
The chefs from the various hotels outdid themselves with the presentation and creativity.
Berjaya Times Square Hotel, was the second runner up for the Most Creative Chocolate Cake. It also won the grand prize for “The Ultimate Splashing Chocolate Cake” inspired by dolphins.
“The entire sculpture that you see on top of the cake took five days to create and it is crafted from blocks of chocolate,” said chef Mohd Ghouse Ishak.
The first runner-up for Most Creative Chocolate Cake was Legend Hotel, while Sunway Hotel won the grand prize with their inspiration “Ocean Paradise”.
For the Best Chocolate Cake, the second runner-up was Mandarin Oriental while Renaissance Hotel was named the first runner up.
“Our cake’s theme centres on the flower and it is made from pure chocolate. Even the decorations and trimmings are made from white chocolate,” said chef Holger Deh from Mandarin Oriental.
According to Great Eastern’s publicist, Bill Bora, the event was held to allow celebrities the chance to meet their fans as well as do their part for charity.
The judges for the competition were from Great Eastern, representatives from the local media and included a cookbook author.
